How to Train Your Brain to Fall Asleep in 60 Seconds (Video)

This is a technique that has been pioneered by Dr Andrew Weil. It is called the 4-7-8 breathing technique and it will definitely help you nod off in just 1 minute.

This technique actually regulates the breathing to different counts of 4, 7 and 8 and it relaxes the muscles, calms the mind and lets the oxygen better fill the lungs.

The hard time to fall asleep is mostly related to unhealthy nutrition late at night, stress, and too many screens before going to bed. I had a very hard time to fall asleep and I used to take a lot of medications to help me, but as time passes by, my body got immune to them. Then I found it absolutely difficult to shut down my brain and then give it a break. Then a friend of mine told me about this technique after weeks of not being able to sleep.

What Is That?

Dr. Andrew Weill – wellness practitioner who studies breathing, meditation and how it could be used to fight against stress.

You only have to breathe in through the nose for 4 sec, then hold it for 7 sec and finally exhale through the mouth for 8 sec. This technique releases chemicals in the brain that soothe you and slows down your heart rate.

However, I was really skeptical for the first time, but I tried it. I was out for the first time before I reach my fourth repetition so I was knocked out in less than 1 min.

The endocrine system releases more adrenaline through adrenal glands when we are stressed. This can make you feel unwell and jittery because it elevates your heart rate.

Your body is forced to slow down the heart rate and you counteract the natural effects of adrenaline by using this breathing method.

You may feel a tad uncomfortable when you begin. But you really do feel your mind clear and heart rate slow as you continue with. Give it a try and enjoy your sleep like never before.
